The End of the World

Mine worker West lives in a small mining town with his daughters Edith and Dina. When the mine owner Stoll comes to town to inspect the work, he falls in love with Dina. Against her fathers will, she elopes with the unscrupulous stock exchange speculator. When the news about a meteor approaching the earth causes panic, Stoll exploits the situation to make a killing on the stock market. While people sell, Stoll buys everything he can get his hands on. In collaboration with the newspaper editor he reassures the public with a fake article and sells his stock, earning millions.
